Daphne Xourafi

Daphne Xourafi is a director, illustrator, and animator, born and based in Athens. She has worked as a freelance book illustrator, storyboard artist, animator, and illustrator, and has created music videos and commercials for artists, animation studios, and agencies around the world.

Her first animated short film, Mine (2022), which focuses on mental health, won the funding and support of the Greek Film Centre and the Ministry of Culture in 2020. The film has been presented in schools and mental health organizations across Greece, as well as on platforms such as Vouli TV, ERT, and ERTFLIX, and has been selected and awarded at festivals all over the world.

In 2024, she directed and created the animated episode “Missolonghi” for the history themed documentary series Hellenic Places on COSMOTE TV. In 2026, she directed and animated the short film A Good Deed Always Comes Back for AFIS recycling, a movie about artificial intelligence and memory, which received a press release and campaign around the city of Athens.

Her artistic practice focuses on memory, mental health awareness and the surrealism of dreams and instinct in the age of technological isolation.
